The LIQ Bar in Düsseldorf, reopened in 2022 by David Rippen – the most innovative bartender of 2023 – brings back the charm of the 80s and 90s. David wanted to revitalise the bar, which had to close during the coronavirus pandemic, with a fresh, contemporary concept. The aim was to emphasise the LIQ Bar’s unique selling point – the reinterpretation of cult cocktails – while using the pop culture of the time as a central theme. Our rebranding not only gave the bar a new look, but also a clear positioning in Düsseldorf’s nightlife scene.

The entire branding is based on the vibe of the 80s and 90s. The logo is inspired by the illuminated lips in the bar, from which liquid drips with relish. It provides an ideal basis for adapting to the design environments of the brand’s touchpoints. The LIQ Bar’s colour palette – consisting of bold purples and pinks – highlights the garish and colourful aesthetic of the time.

The cocktail menu, reminiscent of classic video games, blends seamlessly into the overall look of the LIQ Bar. Every detail, from the handcrafted pixel drinks to the video game levels of the cocktails, allows guests to step into the Delorian and travel through time. Because: It’s hammer time!

A voucher is a gift of good times and good memories – just as camcorder family videos are special memories, saved on VHS for reliving over and over again.For this reason, the LIQ Bar vouchers are also reminiscent of these very VHS tapes, housed in a colourful slipcase.

The website also picks up on the intense colours of the LIQ Bar and serves as a central information platform for the visit, making guests’ mouths water in advance with the signature drinks. After a short time, it has already recorded over 50,000 impressions.
